Helen Haines Groenekamps' training started at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. After moving west, she continued her studies at Art Students' League in Los Angeles and took various courses at UCLA and USC. She studied with noted artists in various individual workshops.

Helen enjoyed her full time art teacher position in a private school for 16-years. Then it was time to concentrate on her creative skills. For two years she painted outdoors everyday. The discipline paid off. During this time her works began selling in outdoor Art Festivals and began winning numerous awards in juried shows. In 2001, she was selected as one of the Top 200 representational artists in the "Arts for the Parks" national competition in Jackson Hole, WY.

Helen teaches adult art classes at various locations in the Los Angeles area. She is a member of Women Painters' West, Valley Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Pacific Art Guild, Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore and Watercolor West

Many of her most popular paintings have been published as limited editions using the new "state of the art"  Giclee Process.
